Women Find Social Media Makes Them More Social Offline, Too: Thirty percent of women say social media has made them more social, not less, according to Bonnie Kintzer’s recent AdAge article. How is that possible? Social media, according to the women surveyed in the study, efficiently brings together multiple areas of their life in one place, creating a temporary bridge between otherwise fragmented areas. Lady Gaga Cooks Up Little Monsters Social Network With a Dash of Pinterest, a Fleck of Facebook: One trend from SXSW 2012 was the idea of social networks specific to brands, like the “Ford Social” community started by the auto company. One celebrity is jumping on that bandwagon early. Lady Gaga, the most-followed celeb on Twitter, is raising the bar with the launch of her own niche social site, The Little Monsters Network. The site, named after her uber fans (who she dubbed “little monsters,”) was designed to be a place to connect and “share passion and creativity in a community full of art and acceptance.” It will be the first of many, if Lady Gaga has her way – it’s powered by Backplane, her startup that focuses on creating social networks specific to celebrities.
